About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer with strong expertise in power system protection, coordination, and relay settings. The role will support protection design and studies for conventional generation, BESS, IBRs, data centers, and large loads, across both grid-connected and off-grid/islanded systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience with generator, transformer, bus, feeder, and motor protection, grounding and ground-fault protection, arc-flash and short-circuit assessments, and protection challenges associated with inverter-limited fault current. Experience with SEL and other major protection platforms is required, while protection validation, commissioning, and HIL testing experience is a strong asset.

Requirements

  • Experience with SEL and other major protection platforms.

  • Protection validation, commissioning, and HIL testing experience is a strong asset.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in power system protection and control engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of protection principles, relay settings, coordination studies, and protection schemes.

  • Experience with BESS, IBRs, conventional generation, and/or large-load protection.

  • Familiarity with applicable IEEE, IEC, NERC, and NFPA standards.

  • P.Eng./PE designation or eligibility is considered an asset.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

About the Company

EdgeTunePower Inc. (ETP) is a power systems engineering and technology company helping utilities, developers, technology providers, and large energy users design and validate reliable, resilient power systems.

Our expertise covers AI data centers, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy, inverter-based resources (IBRs), conventional and onsite generation, microgrids, and large electrical loads. ETP combines power system engineering with PSCAD and RTDS simulation, digital twins, real-time simulation, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to identify control, protection, stability, and grid-integration challenges before systems are deployed in the field.

Our capabilities include grid interconnection and stability studies, EMT analysis, protection and control engineering, protection coordination, PMS/EMS/PPC validation, HIL testing, and commissioning support. ETP is also advancing HIL+, extending conventional HIL testing to include physical electromechanical systems for complex applications such as AI data centers with onsite generation and BESS.

By connecting engineering studies, advanced simulation, controls, protection, and real-world validation, ETP helps customers reduce technical risk, improve system reliability, and accelerate the deployment of modern power infrastructure.
