Job Description: SCADA & Network Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled SCADA & Network Engineer to support the design, deployment, and maintenance of industrial control and monitoring systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in networking, SCADA platforms (especially Ignition), and industrial automation environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working across both OT and IT layers.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and maintain SCADA systems, with a focus on Ignition SCADA for real-time monitoring, alarming, and data acquisition.
Set up, configure, and troubleshoot network switches, VLANs, and industrial communication protocols.
Integrate field devices, PLCs, RTUs, sensors, and other control equipment into SCADA architecture.
Develop dashboards, screens, and reporting tools within Ignition.
Ensure system reliability, redundancy, and cybersecurity best practices across OT networks.
Monitor system performance and resolve communication failures or data flow issues.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to support project execution and system upgrades.
Document network layouts, SCADA configurations, and system changes.
Provide on-site or remote technical support during commissioning and operational phases.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in SCADA development, specifically Ignition (Tag configuration, scripting, UDTs, gateway configuration).
Hands-on expertise with network switch configuration, VLAN management, routing, and industrial Ethernet networks.
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA, MQTT, Ethernet/IP).
Experience integrating PLCs/RTUs from vendors such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or GE.
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
Ability to troubleshoot complex network and SCADA issues under time-sensitive conditions.
Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with control room operations or utility/energy sector systems.
Certifications such as Ignition Core/Gold, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
Knowledge of cloud-based SCADA, historian systems, or IIoT architectures.
Understanding of redundancy schemes (Failover SCADA, PRP/HSR networks).
