About the Role

Role Overview:

As an HIL and Real-Time Simulation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and validating control systems for power management through advanced Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms. You’ll work closely with engineering and R&D teams to create accurate, real-time models of electrical systems and ensure seamless integration of hardware and control logic.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement real-time simulation models for power systems, microgrids, and grid-connected assets

- Develop and manage HIL test benches using platforms like OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, or RTDS

- Collaborate with controls, software, and hardware engineers to validate system performance

- Perform fault injection and test automation to verify system reliability and safety

- Support integration of new technologies and contribute to ongoing R&D efforts

Requirements

What You Bring:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field

  • 3+ years experience in HIL testing and real-time simulation

  • Hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, or equivalent platforms

  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and real-time modeling techniques

  • Solid understanding of control systems, inverters, and grid dynamics


Nice to Have:


  • Experience with power electronics, DERs, or microgrid systems

  • Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, DNP3, etc.)

  • Exposure to CI/CD and automated test frameworks
